[Atlantis - True Story or Cautionary Tale?]
“If the writing of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato had not contained so much truth about the human condition, his name would have been forgotten centuries ago.
But one of his most famous stories—the cataclysmic destruction of the ancient civilization of Atlantis—is almost certainly false. So why is this story still repeated more than 2,300 years after Plato’s death?”
To the title of this article, I would answer: BOTH! It is not surprising how most modern scientists do not believe that Atlantis was a real civilization because to consider the plausibility of such an assertion would require a Worldview Shift. Americans especially are deeply ingrained with a falsified, romanticized view of history and generally rule out the existence of highly advanced ancient civilizations by default. But our modern civilization is simply replaying and reliving themes of Old to see if we can evolve collectively to break the cycle and bring about a more positive, sustainable outcome.
“The legend of Atlantis is a story about a moral, spiritual people who lived in a highly advanced, utopian civilization. But they became greedy, petty, and “morally bankrupt,” and the gods “became angry because the people had lost their way and turned to immoral pursuits,” Orser says.”
This is reflected in our modern day whereby the foundation of society is Mass-Ecological Defilement in the name of Profit and Greed. Befouling the Earth to squeeze out one more dollar for the few who hardly need it…
